Hello, I’m Garret Scurr, a San Diego based wedding photographer.

My story in Wedding Photography started at my own wedding.  As I witnessed my wedding day unfold I was captured by these amazing moments taking place throughout the day, all out of the celebration of “love”. I watched my grandfather dance with my mom and all my aunts as they busted out some signature dance moves, I remember my grandmother who I miss so dearly dancing with me and telling me how proud she was of me, I also remember looking at my parents in the aisle as I got married and seeing both of them so happy, and of course I remember my nephew break dancing on the dance floor with a captive audience. It was those moments of family and friends coming together for love that made me fall in love with wedding photography. Why I really love to shoot weddings are those moments, which are only shared on a wedding day. Sometimes we take for granted the fleeting moments of happiness in our lives and photography allows an image to remind us of those moments. Photography is one of my true passions and I am honored to say that I love being a wedding photographer. I would be privileged, as your wedding photographer, to tell your story of love through the photos we will create together.

My work has been featured in GLAMOUR  Mag and the The Huffington Post.

NOIR is a judged photography competition and group exhibition presented by the APA | San Diego, featuring photographs with the theme noir in mind. All entries were judged by Dean Brierly, photo editor of Black & White + Color Magazine, which one my photos placed and was exhibited in the Subtext Gallery San Diego.

12 of my photos were published in April 2012.I was real happy to work with all the cool staff at Standup Paddle Mag.

I was the lead photographer for the “Youth Without Borders” to Haiti. We documented the rebuilding of schools, interviewed and documented the life in Haiti after the wake of the horrible earthquake in 2010.

I have worked with surf industry legend, Rusty Preisendorfer, and Rusty pro riders to document surfboard shaping and the interview process between shaper and surfer.  Many photos of mine were used for catalogs.

I have worked with local bands while providing them with various life style shots and cover art for their albums.

I have photographed behind the scenes stills for movie sets.

Among the many things I have done in photography, I’m choosing to put my energy and time into wedding photography. I get such satisfaction out of documenting a day full of genuine emotion.
